Dale Smith

Gholson, Texas 

Dale Smith began calling in 1976 while stationed in Okinawa, Japan with the United States Army. In a addition to Japan, Dale has called dances in Hawaii, Texas, Alabama, South Carolina along with five European countries.  He  moved to the heart of Texas area in 1983 and started calling for the Central Texas Lone Stars.  In the summer of 2002, Dale suspended his square dance activities due to deployments to the Middle East with the 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.  He resumed calling after retiring from the Department of the Army in December 2012.  He currently resides in Gholson, TX with his wife Pamela, whom he taught to square dance in 1995.  Dale is a member of CALLERLAB, Texas Callers Association and the H.O.T. Callers Association and the East Texas Callers Association.

 forWendell Moore began calling in the mid 1970's.   His square dance calling career actually began through a disappointment.  When his band split up, he searched for other ways to entertain.  While stationed in El Paso, Texas in the armed services, Wendell discovered a local Caller's Association.  He joined it in order to receive training in square dancing and calling.  Square dancing became a passion of his, which seems rather natural since his grandfather was a square dance caller and passed along the love of square dancing to Wendell.  In 1977, a young lady named Pat, began taking lessons, but as soon as she learned Wendell was teaching, she switched to his class.  The rest, as they say, is history.  They were wed in 1978.  They now reside in China Spring, Texas with their little white dog, Trixie and their big white cat, Tinker Bell.  Wendell is a past president  of the H.O.T Callers Association.
